50) The Boss (1956)
John Payne was one handsome son of a gun. Usually the handsome hero, but in this case, he’s one mean gritty son of a b****. I’m not used to seeing him play mean and down right cruel, so at first I thought he was over doing it a tad…but nope. Thought he wound up being perfect for it. Proved he’s quite an actor here.
“I’M THE BOSS” “I’ve Got My Finger In Every Vice Racket. The Police, Senate Investigators, Nobody Can Lay A Hand On Me. They Call Me A Public Enemy, But Someday I’m Going To Name My Own President.”
Better watch out to, cus he ain’t takin’ know crap from NOBODY. He’ll beat the crap out of you!
The only thing i wasn’t so agreeable with was that he thought the woman he married during a drunken night was ugly…
Hate to say it…but she’s not so bad…uhmmm actually I think she’s prettier then the one you originally wanted. Suck it up Mr. Payne.
If you like tough, gritty films with loads of corruption, then “The Boss” is for you! I enjoyed it :)

51) Shock Corridor (1963)
Peter Breck is bent on winning the Pulitzer Prize Bent on winning a Pulitzer Prize. He plays a journalist who has himself committed into an insane asylum in order to solve a murder that is very unclear…Great acting all around. Especially by some of the patience and Miss Constance Towers.
Kudos to this man…

If you weren’t psychotic before you went in…don’t expect to come out normal…Fantastic movie…Directed by Samuel Fuller. Expert!

52) Shortcut to Hell (1957)
A man is hired to assassinate a couple of people and is then payed off by a fat man who love peppermint patties …the end! Uhmmm no…how about that fat man pays him off in stolen cash. OOPS!!! That guy better run fast…
I can’t find a whole lot of pics from this flick, but I do highly recommend it. Bonus: James Cagney Directed it.
Fast paced and suspenseful…it’s all there…
53) The Naked Kiss (1960)
I watched this not knowing what it would be about…and i like it for certain reasons i will not discuss and I even cried towards the end. This is one I will be watching again…Some people think it’s strange and quirky…I really felt for the Constance Towers character and the little girl :(
One of the first films to talk about child molestation…not an easy subject…
Criterion released this and its worth a buy to me…

54) What’s the Matter With Helen? (1971)
Debbie Reynolds and Shelly Winters just watched as their sons went to prison for the murder of an everyday working mother just like themselves…Now they are getting threatening phone calls with promises of revenge from a mysterious man. Both are scared and decide to move to Hollywood and reopen a dance school for young girls with stage struck mama’s hell bent on getting their kids into showbiz…
Adelle (Debbie Reynolds) falls in love with a Texas millionaire, but Helen (Shelly Winters) turns to an evangelist and gradually goes off the deep end. Soon corpses of all kinds start piling up…Gotta love that.
I love Shelly Winters…Psycho or not. One of the greatest! :)

Classic Sci-Fiction film that’s ACTUALLY GOOD! Good acting makes it less corny…and maybe it could even *dun dun dunnnnnnn* HAPPEN!!! YIPES!

28. Park Row (1952)
I’d never heard of this until I watched it on TCM the other night. It caught my interest due to the fact that Samuel Fuller directed it! He used an entire cast of unknowns…so wasn’t to sure about it, but was surprised at how entertaining and fast paced it was. The romance angle is a little corny at times…but it’s still worth checking out.
Phineas Mitchell (What a name) begins his own newspaper on park row in 1880’s NYC! His nemesis is a competing paper run by tough as nails lady Charity Hackett (Again,What a name) …they hate each other…so OBVIOUSLY we know they are going to fall in love right…ahhh how I love the movies.
29. Bells are Ringing (1960)
I was hoping to love this a lot more then I did. Judy Holiday is hilarious and it had it’s moments, but the music is pretty forgettable. The thing I loved most about this, was the cast!
Not to mention Dean Martin was one handsome son of a gun!
Shout out goes to Jean Stapleton who plays Sue…are very own Edith Bunker!

Judy Holiday, you were an amazing actress and taken away from us far to early. Your oscar winning portrayal in Born Yesterday is hilarious and well deserved…despite the whole Gloria Swanson/Bette Davis war. Lovely!
30. Love Me or Leave Me (1955)
Maybe Doris Day’s best performance and arguably James Cagney’s as well…although his performance in everything ESPECIALLY White Heat is oscar worthy. What an Actor.
I had no idea what this movie was about until I popped it in the ole dvd player. A little long but the acting and songs make it well worth it. The chemistry between the two actors despite the age difference is suprisingly effective.
A fictionalized account of the career of jazz singer Ruth Etting and her tempestuous marriage to gangster Marty Snyder, who helped propel her to stardom.

31. Love Me Tonight (1932)
Jeanette MacDonald and Maurice Chevalier team up again…and i liked this one a lot better then The Love Parade. I especially love the opening sequence…IT’S AMAZING…Maurice begins to sing and the WHOLE village knows the lyrics…I loved it.
What a lover boy!!
Jeanette MacDonald is super cute in this BUT it’s Myrna Loy who takes the cake in this one…one of her first showy roles.
32. For Heaven’s Sake (1950)
CUTE CUTE CUTE and Clifton Webb is hilarious…Hard to believe after seeing him in such snobbish roles…like Laura. Excellent charming film. Watch this one.
Clifton Webb and Edmund Gwenn are two angels who come to Earth to help get a couple kids born…ok nottttt in that way *wink wink*
A little girl (not born yet…but somehow manages to look 10 lol) has selected the parents she wishes to be hers (Joan Bennett and Robert Cummings). But they are so involved in their theater work, they have no time to get it on… SOOO That’s where Gwenn and Webb come in…hehehe JUST WATCH THE MOVIE! You’ll love it

33. All I Desire (1953)
Barbara Stanwyck is enough to make me watch anything she’s in…so of course i enjoyed this film.
In 1900, Naomi Murdoch deserted her small-town family to go on the stage. Some ten years later, daughter Lily invites Naomi back to see her in the Riverdale high school play. Her arrival sets the whole town abuzz, wakes up old conflicts, and sets off new emotional storms

34. Mister Scoutmaster (1953)
Here we have Clifton Webb again in an unusual comical role. The thought of it alone makes me laugh. He plays a Snobby TV star who worries that he is out of touch with the younger generation and that’s why his TV show is failing. He becomes a Boy Scout leader in an effort to “get in touch.” Overnight hikes and other adventures follow, all centered around one small boy who takes a liking to him.
That little boy is George ‘Foghorn’ Winslow…who you might recognize as the little boy who has a very cute scene with Marilyn Monroe in Gentleman Prefer Blondes
Look at his face…i think he’s saying JACKPOT!
Frances Dee (I’m married to Joel ‘Who’s more handsome then you can imagine’ McCrea) plays Webb’s wife…
I’m gonna stop here and do an upcoming Barbara Stanwyck edition…since the next 5 flicks I’ve watched already involve her.
